Retiring The Nonprofit Strategy Library
I am no longer maintaining the Nonprofit Strategy Library, but you can access links to resources in this Google spreadsheet.
Instead, I am now documenting and sharing my own comprehensive perspective on nonprofit strategy here and in my blog. Check it out.
I began compiling links to the resources I eventually shared in the Nonprofit Strategy Library in 2009, when I first worked in the social sector developing strategy for an international development nonprofit organization.
I had set out to find resources to help set good strategy within a nonprofit organization, but found astonishingly little in the way of high-quality literature, and few practical tools. Out of necessity, I learned to parse the private sector body of knowledge about strategy and translate it for social sector purposes.
The Nonprofit Strategy Library pointed to these private sector resources, and the few decent resources available at the time that spoke specifically to a mission-driven context.
But these resources required readers to translate varied perspectives into their own context—not an easy task—and few provided a comprehensive strategy framework.
Now, after many years of study, adaptation, and practice, I am now documenting and sharing my own comprehensive perspective on nonprofit strategy that draws on this body of literature and is rooted in the realities of nonprofit organizational management, and I’m no longer maintaining the Nonprofit Strategy Library.
Still, many have found it useful, so I’ll keep the link active. The legacy list of resources now lives in this Google spreadsheet.
Enjoy.
